GARZÓN TANNAT 2014 Product of Uruguay
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer GARZÓN
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, spicy, complex, gently cedary, warm ripe plum-baked cherry nose with some earthy notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, dense, harmonious, intense, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry-blackberry flavours with a lingering, very faintly earthy, fairly high acid, lifted, sandalwood-cassis finish. It has 14% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number TV15015 on the back label. Winemaker Alberto Antonini let it rest for 9 months in gently toasted French oak. Dollar for dollar, this is the best Tannat I have ever tasted. TONY ASPLER / 90-points / BEST BUY - Dense purple-black in colour; cedary, blackberry nose with toasty oak notes; medium to full-bodied, dry, spicy blackberry flavour with the firm support of tannins. Bravo - it’s the best red wine value of the release. Currently available in only 84 LCBO outlets - see if your local store can order some for you. CSPC 497008

TASTING NOTE: Pleasantly fresh on the nose. The palate is generous and expressive with a plethora of ripe, juicy black fruits and a clean, pure mineral expression. Tannins are medium plus but really approachable and well balanced by a beautiful fruit. A perfect execution. Score - 95 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2016) Price $ 18.95
