A Best Buy
TASTING NOTE: Bright straw. A whiff of vanillin oak complements bright citrus, banana and floral aromas. Steely, juicy and fresh, with very pure flavors of crisp citrus and banana, and with less of an oaky presence than the nose suggests. Nicely focused mineral and orchard fruit elements linger on the multilayered finish. A cooler, wetter year (the sort of year [winemaker Paul] Pender likes best for Chardonnay); the grapes were picked in mid-October. This wine has not yet been released (it will be in about six months). Drinking window: 2018-2028. Score - 92 (Ian D'Agata, vinous.com, Aug. 2016) Price $ 35.80
