TASTING NOTE: Pinotage was created in 1925 by Abraham Perold when he crossed Cinsaut - a very successful grape in South Africa - and Pinot Noir, a grape that did not take well to the South African climate. The resulting grape, Pinotage, was completely different than he had expected, and the wines it produced bore no resemblance to either parent. Pinotage has become the signature red grape of South Africa. This one has notes of fruit cake and intense black cherry. Toasty and earthy with good balance and structure. Enjoy with peppercorn steak.
