Bright medium straw colour. Very spicy, clove-wintergreen nose with some stewed apple-lemon notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, very spicy, honeyed, clove-tinged, warm ripe lemon flavours with a lingering, mineral-tinged, faintly resinous finish. Ready-to-drink. has 14% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. Too much oak for me. |

TASTING NOTE: The oldest vines at the Kew Vineyards estate date back to 1975, making them among the most venerable in Ontario. This wine spends two to four years in new French oak, which in the 2012 vintage brought lovely shading to a wine brimming with crunchy green apple, bright acidity and a mineral aspect. The producer suggests pairing it with steak and a Béarnaise sauce, mild curries, grilled butterflied leg of lamb, or pumpkin or squash ravioli. (VINTAGES panel, March 2015) |
