PETITE SIRAH 2008 Guadalupe Valley, Baja California |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
L.A. CETTO |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Slightly sweet, spicy, baked black cherry nose with some vanilla notes. Fairly dry, slightly spicy, medium-light bodied, ripe, raisiny, plummy-cherry flavours with a fairly crisp finish. An entry-level red that might be served slightly chilled. Fairly similar to the 2007 (*/*+) which was released on June 12, 2010 at $11.95. |

Widely produced in California and usually blended with Zinfandel to add structure, Petite Sirah does very well as a stand-alone variety in Mexico; L.A. Cetto, in particular, has been extremely successful with the variety. Dense purple in colour, it offers black pepper and tea notes leading to an impressive, well-rounded finish. Pair this with spicy black bean dishes or steak-and-cheese enchiladas. |
