Langtry Estate is named for actress and renaissance woman Lillie Langtry, who when not performing Shakespeare, favoured thoroughbred racing and visiting California vineyards including this one, which she purchased in 1888. TASTING NOTE: Deep ruby colour with ripe black fruit, leather, black pepper and chocolate. A plush, robust wine that shows Cali’s ability to fully ripen Petite Sirah and make lovely wines with the variety. Pair with hearty stews featuring beef and vegetables. (Vintages panel, Jan. 2012) |
