Though not related to Syrah (it is, in fact, Durif), Petite Sirah does often share a blackberry fruit and pepper quality with the much revered Rhône/Australian grape. Petite Sirahs are often chunky, fruity and fairly tannic, so they have some ageability and will work extremely well with a rare to medium-rare barbecued sirloin steak. |
