Lochnagar distillery was allowed to attach ‘Royal’ to the front of their name in 1848 after Queen Victoria declared it to be her favourite Scotch. Today, the tiny distillery is used as an educational facility for both Diageo employees (Diageo owns the property) and customers. Michael Jackson describes the Royal Lochnagar house style as “Malty, fruity, spicy, cake-like. [Enjoy it] after dinner”. (Malt Whisky Companion, 5th Edition, 2004) |
