‘EDRADOUR’ 10 YEARS OLD HIGHLAND SINGLE MALT 10 Years Old, Highland Single Malt, in Gift Tube |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Edradour Distillery |
Light ambering gold colour. Intense, great, honeyed, gently sweet, very spicy nose. Intense, dry and yet with very slightly sweetish notes, somewhat peppery, slightly smoky, solid caramel flavours. Edradour is Scotland’s smallest distillery (owned by Pernod Ricard) and despite Michael Jackson’s relatively low score of 81 points (which is unreported in the Vintages Catalogue) this is a wide appeal, easy to enjoy style. |

Edradour is the smallest distillery in Scotland and has a fascinating history. A story, possibly apocryphal, continues to circulate that, in order to supply illicit drink to America during the US Prohibition (1920-1933) years, the property was once owned (through shadow and fog) by the mafia. Tasting note: House style: Minty, creamy. After dinner. Colour: Full golden. Nose: Peppermint, sugared almonds, hint of sherry, spicy-smoky notes. Body: Remarkably creamy texture for a relatively light malt. Palate: Minty-clean, creamy, malty. Finish: Mellow, warming. (Michael Jackson, Malt Whisky Companion, 4th Edition, 1999) |
