This Classic Catalogue release goes on sale on August 5 at 8:30 am (via Vintages Shop Online). Assessed from a bottle provided by Woodman Wines & Spirits. Bright pale straw colour. Very attractive, intense, ripe lemon meringue nose with buttery toasty notes along with complex hints of key lime and lovely minerality. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, intense, very classy, bright, ripe, lemon-lime meringue flavours with a lingering, high acid albeit harmonious, surprisingly intense, lingering finish. Wonderful mouth feel. A must buy for anyone wanting a 1er Cru that tastes like a Grand Cru. This 2018 is still quite fresh and although quite ready-to-drink, it will definitely hold on for another 5-10 years if kept at cellar temperature. Has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number 353 18 on the lower part of the glass bottle and L20017307 on the capsule. The approximately half of the must was vinified in French oak (aged of 6 years in average), the balance in small stainless steel vats. It was aged for 15 months, of which 6 months were on fine lees in barrels before being put into small small stainless steel vats. |

Part of the August Classic Catalogue release. The 2018 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru is superb. Rich and ample with tremendous structure, the 2018 possesses terrific depth and textural resonance throughout the finish. Orchard fruit, lemon confit, almond and menthol infuse the 2018 with notable complexity and intensity. Textured, oily and deep with a bit of a savory edge, the 2018 has so much to offer. Score - 92-94. (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Jan. 2020) |
