‘An Cnoc’ is Scottish Gaelic for ‘The Hill’. The full name of the distillery in Gaelic is Cnoc Dubh (Black Hill). In English this translates as ‘Knockdhu’, and should not be confused with the Knockando Distillery. Tasting note: Colour: Pale gold. Nose: Very aromatic, smooth, fruity. Pineapple? Body: Light but very smooth. Palate: Smooth, creamy, vanilla notes. Very soft note of fruit. Very drinkable and enjoyable. Finish: Creamy, oaty. Sweet herbs. House style: Creamy and fruity. A dessert malt? (Michael Jackson, Malt Whisky Companion, 4th Edition, 1999) |
