Extremely deep intense purple colour. Complex, slightly spicy, intense, warm plum-cherry nose with some fairly intense cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, intense, very ripe cassis-plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, bright, very faintly herbal, surprisingly smoky, high acid finish. This new co-fermented blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 91-points / BEST BUY - Opaque purple-black in colour; spicy, cedary, vanilla oak and blackberry aromas on the nose; full-bodied, richly extracted and full in the mouth with ripe tannins. TASTING NOTE: A field of ripe berry aromas jump out of the glass; blackberries, raspberries, blueberries. Toasty oak, lavender and smoked meat notes follow suite. The palate is opulent and rich offering layers of blackcurrant and ripe raspberry, mocha and freshly ground pepper. A fresh grapefruit pith acidity and substantial tannins provide the firm structure for this bold red to develop for quite some time. Score - 90 (Alanna McIntyre, winealign.com, July 18, 2018) |
