UNÁNIME GRAN VINO TINTO 2014 Uco Valley, Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Mascota Vineyards |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Complex, intense, fresh, ripe, plum-black cherry nose with some cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, dense, intense, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, cedary, fairly high-acid, mocha-chocolate-tinged finish. A second bottle has just a touch of bitterness on the finish. This hefty blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Malbec and 15% Cabernet Franc has 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L18151 on the back label. The recommended best buy 2011 (***) was released on October 1, 2016 at $29.95. |

Ranked #52 in Wine Enthusiasts' Top 100 Best of Year 2017 with a score of 93 points and designated as an Editors' Choice. (Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 1, 2017) TASTING NOTE: Who says Argentina is all about varietal wines? This delicious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with 25% Malbec and 15% Cabernet Franc, all of it from the southern end of the Uco Valley, is savoury, complex, dense and made to last. Perfumed, elegant and refined, with a chalky flourish. Drink Date: 2018-28. Score - 95 (Tim Atkin, MW, timatkin.com, Argentina Special Report 2017) |
