JCB FRENCH KISS SPARKLING GAMAY |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
BOISSET |
Light violet purple colour. Very spicy, sweet, Lambrasco inspired nose. Sweet, light bodied, very spicy, very faintly grippy, gently effervescent, Lambrisco-inspired, ripe, plummy-berry flavours with a crisp, unoaked, light, honeyed finish. It’s ready-to-drink with 7.5% alcohol and 54 g/L residual sugar. The Vintages Catalogue says that JCB French KIss is an Ancestral method Gamay Beaujolais but the back label says that it is simply designated as a “French Sparkling Wine - Doux”. I would love to do a blind tasting between an Italian Brachetto d'Acqui or even an inexpensive Lambrusco such as Chiarli Castelvetro at only $10.35 to see how they compare. This wine may not be a detour but seeing JCB’s French Kiss stellar performance on YOUTUBE is worth every moment - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbAu2pTZneo

A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
Thought to be the very first technique for producing sparkling wines, the ancestral method involves a primary fermentation that is stopped before completion and a secondary fermentation that occurs in the bottle. This wine, made from Gamay, shows juicy berry fruit, earthy notes and lively bubbles. |
