ESTATE PINOT NOIR 2013 VQA Vinemount Ridge, Niagara Escarpment |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
WESTCOTT |
Deep brick colour. Spicy, mature, baked apple-plum-cherry nose with some dusty sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, tangy, somewhat cedary, stewed, plum-cherry-apple flavours with a lingering, high acid, somewhat bitter, herbal finish. This REPEAT has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. I tasted two separate bottles and, sadly, it seems to have collapsed since it was last released (89-points) on December 9, 2017 at $30.00. |

TASTING NOTE: This is nice and earthy, a little rough around the edges, and well balanced with fruit. When you take your first sip of this wine it opens up with a rich floral note that grabs hold of every part of your mouth and won't let go. The cherry note soars above the earth and violet note and there is a nice acidity to round out the package. Pinot like this belongs on the table next to duck or Coq au vin. Score - 4 Stars (out of 5) (André Proulx, andrewinereview.ca, Dec. 15, 2017) |
