Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
STRATUS |
Very bright light salmon pink colour. Bright, slightly spicy, intense, apricot-plum-apple nose with some slightly leesy mineral notes. Fairly dry, medium-light bodied, fresh, plum-strawberry-watermelon-apple flavours with a lingering, fairly crisp, unoaked, slightly mineral-tinged finish. Ready-to-drink. This tasty blend of Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling has 12.3% alcohol and 10 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. |

TASTING NOTE: Stratus is known for blending with the best of them, and this rosé brings together a wild combination of Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. Nice fruity-savoury-tangy interplay here, with Red Delicious apple, strawberry jam, red bell pepper and garden herbs. A kiss of residual sweetness juxtaposes with a bright, lip-smacking acidity while trace tannins lend gentle structure. Pour with herbed lamb, spicy sausages, grilled curried shrimp, or pizza with a garlic cream sauce. (Vintages panel, April 2018) |
