TASTING NOTE: Nose: Roasty and seductively attractive: healthy spice fits beautifully with the light mocha notes; Taste: mmmmm!! What a delivery! The malt is in supercharged form, sensationally intense yet the trick is the layering: this is not a wall of barley but a slow build up, one line above the next. The sweetness is provided by deft and tactile ulmo honey which mingles with the grist, then a more lightweight orange blossom honey...all the while bowing lower than the malt which reigns supreme; Finish: superb spices tangle and pulse, but never outflank the malt. Even the oak is happy to provide only the lightest of vanilla flourishes; Balance and overall Complexity: Glenmorangie displaying countless layers of brilliance. Breathtakingly beautiful. Score - 95.5 (Jim Murray, Whisky Bible, 2018) |
