GAME CHANGER THE CASTAWAY ROSÉ 2016 VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
VINELAND ESTATES |
Day-glo bright light candy cane colour. Spicy, honeyed, sweetish, cherry pie nose. Off dry, light bodied, spicy, juicy, plum-strawberry flavours with a lingering, honeyed finish. A faintly sweet, commercial, ready-to-drink, crowd-pleaser. Not my style. Has 12% alcohol and 9 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. |

Vineland Estates has been around for more than 30 years, and in that time has amassed quite the reputation - but never ones to rest on their laurels in 2014, Vineland became the first winery in Canada to make use of an optical grape sorter. There are only about 50 of these remarkable devices in the world. The cutting-edge technology behind this game-changing machine allows it to photograph and sort up to 2,000 grapes per second, allowing winemaker Allan Schmidt to make use of only the highest quality grapes in his wine. You can expect this rosé to be a fresh and vibrant wine with perfectly food-friendly acidity. |
