HENRI GAILLARD ROSÉ 2016 AP Côtes de Provence |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
HENRI GAILLARD |
Bright pale salmon pink colour. Slightly spicy, fresh ripe plum-apple-cherry nose. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, harmonious, bright, slightly spicy, ripe plum-apple-cherry flavours with a crisp unoaked finish. Ready-to-drink. Has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L70105307 on the back label and a screwcap closure. TIM APPELT / 88-points / BUY - Pale salmon in colour. A lightly herbal and floral attack, with hints of strawberry, lemon and perfumed red apple. Very dry, with bright acidity, balanced alcohol and a medium body. While the flavours don't jump from the glass, there is a pleasant firmness to the strawberry and cherry fruit on the palate that picks up a nuance of cherry pit bitterness on the finish. Harmonious and elegant. The 2015 appeared in Vintages (**) on July 9, 2016 at $16.95 and was Recommended. |

Rosé wines are, among other things, very food friendly. This one is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre and is typically crafted in a lighter style that puts the spotlight on the brightness of the red fruit and floral tones. You can expect this to be a well-made and balanced wine that will work as an aperitif - but don't be afraid to pair it with barbecued fare such as fish, chicken or ribs. |
