CÔTE DES ROSES ROSÉ 2016 AP Languedoc |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
GÉRARD BERTRAND |
Extremely pale bright light salmon pink colour. Slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, gently fruity, plum-apple-ruby grapefruit nose. Fairly dry, light bodied, slightly spicy, very pleasant, fresh, apple-tinged, melon-plum flavours with a crisp, unoaked finish. This blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah has 12.5% alcohol and 12 g/L residual sugar with lot number MS17287 on the back label. TIM APPELT / 89-points / BEST BUY - Light salmon-pink in colour. Vibrant aromas of red apples, strawberries, and lemon, with notes of apple blossoms and dried herbs. Technically off-dry, but the bright acidity hides most of the residual sugar, and the alcohol is nicely balanced. The fruit is generous on the palate, but a pleasant phenolic bitterness adds complexity and helps dry the finish. An approachable rosé with excellent structure. Highly recommended. The 2015 appeared in Vintages (**/**+) on February 4, 2017 at $18.95 and was Recommended. |

The Gérard Bertrand Côte des Roses Rosé has earned a tremendous reputation with Vintages customers who have fallen in love with this consistent and classically styled blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, in addition to the eye-catching, rose-shaped bottle. This will be a complex, fresh and vibrant wine with plenty of red fruit tones accented by citrus and herb notes. Chill and enjoy with grilled chicken, mildly spiced ribs, or summer salads. |
