ZONTE'S FOOTSTEP |
Day glo salmon pink colour. Spicy, honeyed, slightly sweetish, plummy nose. Faintly sweetish, medium-light bodied, very spicy, honeyed, ripe plum-apple puree flavours with a candy-apple finish. This blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Grenache has 13.5% alcohol and according to the LCBO only 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number LZFSLR16 on the back label. Screwcap closure. TONY ASPLER / 88-points - A nose of raspberries and almonds; light to medium-bodied, crisply dry, cranberry and citrus flavours with good length. Much better than the sweeter (10 g/L residual sugar) 2015 (*/*+ with 84-points) released on April 30, 2016 at $15.95. Just some you know, this 2016 actually has 5.4 g/L residual sugar but tastes drier because of the higher acidity of 6.86 g/L total acidity |

This wine's name is a tribute to the ladybugs that eat aphids and other micro-pests in the vineyard. The wine itself is made from 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Grenache. The producer suggests pairing it with Asian cuisine, or dishes with a hint of chilli or lemon grass. TASTING NOTE: Light nose and light to start but flavours come in as it travels and they mingle and build to a well defined dry rosé. Score - 92 (Tony Keys, thekeyreport.com.au, Jan. 26, 2017) |
