PORTWOOD 21 YEARS OLD SPEYSIDE SINGLE MALT Scotland |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
THE BALVENIE |
Not presented at the press/consultants preview in the LCBO lab. Last appeared in Vintages (***/***+) on December 8, 2012 at only $244.95 and was an Explorer Selection. Here is my note: Medium golden amber colour. Fairly intense, caramel tinged, very faintly smoky, orange citrus nose with some floral notes. Quite smooth, dry, harmonious, medium to medium-full bodied, slightly spicy, somewhat honeyed, plummy, caramel tinged flavours with a lingering, dryish finish. |

A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
TASTING NOTE: Rich and succulent, this super-luxe old Speyside spirit starts out friendly, with burnt honey, dried fruit and cashew flavours, before delivering a backslap of spice and seductive nuance of damp earth. Score - 93 (Beppi Crosariol, The Globe and Mail, Nov. 25, 2011) |
