This legendary libation is one of a shortlist of whiskies to have received 95 points, the highest score ever awarded by whisky guru Michael Jackson (The Malt Whisky Companion, 2004). It is matured entirely in Sherry barrels. While the barrels impart rich, smoky, cinnamon-spice character to the malt, the distillers use relatively small pot stills to give this whisky a pleasant dryness. This is an excellent aperitif whisky to serve with wild-caught smoked salmon, or as the perfect accompaniment to contemplation or good conversation. |
