‘MORTLACH’ 1988 Matured 12 Years, Bottled May 2001. Single Highland Malt In Gift Tin |

Light yellow colour. Lovely, very slightly sweet, chestnut purée nose. Well balanced, harmonious, slightly spicy, creamy, plum and chestnut-hazelnut purée flavours with a lingering finish. Drier and tangier than the Bowmore above, there’s good value here. |

This bottling of Mortlach is a perfect example of the independent bottler at their craft. Independent bottler Signatory buys up cask lots from distilleries and age them in their own cellars until they judge the time is right to bottle them. In September 1998, we released this 1988 Single Malt as a ‘Matured 9 years in Sherry butt’. It was distilled on May 26, 1988 and bottled in May 1998. This time, the same distillation has been bottled three years later. Expect this whisky to be richer and more velvety than its predecessor. |
