At Bowmore, there are four factors that determine the final character of their product: the waters sourced from the nearby Laggan River; the burning of local peat bricks in the malt drying kilns; the ageing of the whiskies in bourbon and sherry casks; and the distillery’s close proximity to the sea (the damp cellars are right on the ocean and below sea level). F. S. Fitzgerald, on the www.alcoholreviews.com website, described this 17-Year-Old as “Bold and Splendid”. |
