ARDBEG ‘UIGEADAIL’ ISLAY SINGLE MALT Non Chill-Filtered |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Ardbeg Distillery Ltd. |
Light golden amber colour. Intense, somewhat smoky, slightly medicinal, fine peaty nose. Intense, very well structured albeit fairly rounded (especially for 54.2% alcohol), spicy, peaty, warm caramel-plum flavours with a surprisingly refined, smoky finish that goes on and on and on. |

Ardbeg ‘Uigeadail’ (pronounced Oog-a-dal) takes its name from the loch that provides the peat-laden water for Ardbeg. This is a non-age designated malt that is bottled at ‘cask strength’ of 54.2% alc./vol. It is designed to be a representative malt of the house style, that Michael Jackson describes as “Earthy, very peaty, smoky, salty, robust. A bedtime malt. (Malt Whisky Companion, 5th Edition, 2004). Amongst other reasons, distillers create ‘cask strength’ bottlings to allow you to adjust the flavour with water so it suits your tastes. |
