The property upon which Glen Garioch is situated holds the oldest licensed distiller in Scotland (est. 1785). The area around the property grows some of Scotland’s best barley. It is also one of the few Highlanders that is not afraid of peat smoke. Michael Jackson describes the Glen Garioch ‘house style’ as “lightly peaty, flowery, fragrant, spicy. Aperitif in younger ages. Digestif in older”. He goes on to describe the finish of this 15-year-old as “Very long, spicy, warming.” (Malt Whisky Companion, 5th Edition, 2004) |
