Glen Grant is named for John and James Grant, two brothers who founded the distillery in 1840. This single cask bottling, however, is from the independent bottler, Liquid Gold Enterprises. The independent bottlers have a long tradition in the UK of buying single casks from dozens of distillers, maturing the casks in their own cellars and then releasing the frequently vintage-dated products at what they feel is the appropriate time. In this case, since it was bottled in 2000, you could consider this a 12 Year Old whisky. |
