Introduced in August 2004, The Macallan 'Fine Oak' line presents a series of single malt scotches, aged 8 through 30 years old that are given a different wood treatment than the standard Macallan. "The secret of this new expression lies in its maturation in carefully selected European and American oak casks, which have previously held Sherry or Bourbon … [spirit expert] Ian Wisniewski [says in a 2004 Macallan press release], "“While this style of Macallan seems like an innovation, it also represents a continuation, by drawing on a traditional style which has been evident in certain bottlings of The Macallan, including some vintages in the Fine & Rare range. The Fine Oak range offers an individual expression of The Macallan house character, and is a style in its own right”" |
