‘OLD PULTENEY’ 12 YEAR OLD Highland Single Malt |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Pulteney Distillery Co. |
Light ambering gold colour. Very slightly peppery, spicy, slightly smoky caramel nose. Dry, bright, tangy, spicy, vanilla stick flavours with a lingering finish. Seems better than the last shipment. |

Some experts still debate if ageing a scotch in a warehouse by the ocean will impart a certain saltiness to the finished product. Ocean-side matured ‘Old Pulteney’ is the ‘perfect witness’ in support of pro-salty theory. Michael Jackson calls the house style “Fresh, salty, appetizing. Pre-dinner [libation].” (Malt Whisky Companion, 5th Edition, 2004) |
