Pinot Noir 2007 (29 January – 1 February 2007) will offer Pinot-loving foodies four days of tasting, discussing, learning, and debating all things Pinot Noir, and with three conference streams (technical, business and consumer) there will be something for everyone.
If you can’t make it for the whole four days, think about the Cuisine magazine’s Pinot Lover’s Day of Homage or even the public tasting afternoon instead.
The event programs summary are as follows:
Saturday - 27 January - SYRAH HAWKES BAY
Join the world's foremost international Syrah commentator Remington Norman and leading producers Michael Havens (USA) and Tom Carson (Australia) for tastings of the world's great Syrahs alongside New Zealand's finest examples. Discussion topics include New Zealand's Place in the World of Syrah, Terroir and its Relevance and The Evolution of Syrah Wine Styles in the New World. Held in Hawkes Bay, this full-day celebration of Syrah will include a tour of local vineyards, a gourmet picnic lunch and festival dinner hosted by local producers.

GRAND TASTING - SEARCHING FOR TYPICITE AND TERROIR
A Tasting of New Zealand 2003 Pinot Noirs
Eight Pinot Noirs from the cooler regions of New Zealand are assembled from the excellent 2003 vintage. We will taste these wines at their peak and Professor Warren Moran will lead a lively discussion amongst four commentators to answer the question: Is it regionality or temperate climate that makes the Pinot Noirs of New Zealand so distinctive?

The Styling of Pinot Noir
A session on how to make the world-wide fashion of Pinot Noir more than a passing fad. This session is designed for the business owners, marketers food and trade whose business is dependent on the success of Pinot Noir. We will hear about the role of the media and the branding, as well as the Pinot Noir success stories from leading trade and producers.

Join us for a cocktail party in an environment of pure New Zealand 'everything'. Enjoy tastes of New Zealand's cheeses, breads, olive oils, pates and seafood with excellent Rieslings and Pinot Noirs from some of our small emerging producers, as well as art, culture and character. A chance to rub shoulders with colleagues and friends from around the world before a late dinner or a restful sleep.

The Great Pinot Noir Producers of New Zealand
Our wine team headed by John Comerford have selected eight of the most prestigious Pinot Noir producers for this tasting. We will sample three wines from each that show the pedigree of the estate over several vintages. These two tastings will be a real event highlight involving some rare wines to be discussed and dissected by a panel of international experts.

GRAND TASTING - GREAT PINOT NOIRS OF THE WORLD
A closer look at the most sensuous of all wines from an international perspective.
We'll taste two carefully selected New Zealand Pinot Noirs alongside some of the great Pinot Noirs of the world including a Rousseau Chambertin 2003 and Louis Jadot Nuits St. Georges "Boudots" 2002.
A panel of international experts will present their views on where the New Zealand wines sit in the context of world class wines from elsewhere.

The culmination of three days of celebration where we will assemble our international ambassador chefs under our chef de cuisine Ruth Pretty to provide a dining experience you will never forget. Seafood, game and lamb and summer fruit will be prepared and served alongside the very best of New Zealand cool climate white wines and Pinot Noir. We will experience a taste of the Montana World of WearableArt so put on your glad rags for a night of glamour and pizzazz.
Saturday - 3 February - NELSON AROMATICS SYMPOSIUM 2007
Head to the picturesque Upper Moutere valley near Nelson for an exploration of New Zealand's fine aromatic wines. You'll taste some of New Zealand's finest Pinot Gris and Riesling, sample some of the region's delicious seafood, enjoy discussions on such topics as The Aromatic Renaissance and Interpreting Terroir through Aromatic Varieties by international experts such as Australia's Jeff Grosset and France's Olivier Humbrecht, and have the chance to explore a region famous for its vineyards, painters and potters, jewelers and glassblowers. The symposium will run from 9am to 5pm on Saturday 3rd February and there will also be a dinner for delegates on Friday 2nd February to be held at Woollaston Estates - what a perfect way to finish a week of wine.
