BACKGROUNDER:

The Pays d'Oc is the largest vineyard region in the world comprising Over 300,000 hectares (740,000 acres) of vines in the Languedoc - Roussillon region of France, from the Rhône Valley to the Spanish border. The name Pays d'Oc (literally the "Country of Oc") refers to a local French dialect Dating to the 12th century in which "oc" means, "yes". The first Eza long, bohemian sarong was designed in Montreal in the Summer of 1993 because it was exactly what students Susanne Langlois and Erin Murphy wanted to wear. They soon discovered that it was what other people wanted to wear as well, and in need of a summer job, they created their own apparel company, Eza Wear.

Eza Wear came to Toronto in 1995 and nestled down in the eclectic, Funky area of Kensington Market. Since that time, Langlois and Murphy have been pushing the limits of their collection to meet the changing needs of their customers. Eza's inspiration comes mostly from the events that shape everyday Canadian lives, but also from a fascination with the details, style and function of vintage clothing. "Vintage clothing all seems to have been made with a true end in mind, 'the party dress, the travelling suit, the weekender', and that is exactly what Eza Wear is all about." Eza's style is laid back, functional and quirky.

Sported by celebrities such as Tragically Hip singer Gord Downie, Eza
Wear was recently selected by Tennis Canada, the national governing body for tennis and organizers of Toronto's 2001 Rogers AT&T Cup, to provide samples of their designs to the top international players including Serena Williams and Jennifer Capriati.

Eza Wear is available exclusively at their boutique - 256D Augusta Ave.
