| GRAN RESERVA 2018 DOCa Rioja, Spain |
| Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
BERONIA |
| Extremely deep intense purple red colour. Intense, very cedary, youthful, slightly peppery, ripe plum nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, mouthfilling, dense, somewhat peppery, plum flavours with a lingering, cedary-sandalwood finish. This blend of 90% Tempranillo, 8% Mazuelo and 2% Graciano has 14% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar. Needs time. Unfortunately, not up to the recommended 2015 (93-points) that was released on November 18, 2023 at $37.95. |

| TASTING NOTE: The 2018 Gran Reserva Beronia was aged for 28 months in barrels. Oak-driven aromatics - cedar, vanilla, black fruit - drive the nose, with soft camphor and blackberry in the background. Dry, with fine tannins and juicy flow, the palate is smooth and well balanced. The 2018 is a polished crowd-pleaser. Drinking window: 2025-2040. Score - 93 (JoaquĆn Hidalgo, vinous.com, May 22, 2025) |
