ROBYN'S BLOCK CHARDONNAY 2022 VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment, Ontario
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TAWSE
NEW in Vintages. Bright medium straw colour. Bright, youthful, slightly spicy, rather ripe, lemony, yellow plum, melon nose with some buttery-toasty notes. Dry, medium plus bodied, fairly intense, rather cedary, ripe, lemony, gently citrusy, buttery-brioche flavours with a lingering, fairly complex, somewhat leesy, minerally, chalk-tinged finish. This barrel fermented Chardonnay was aged for 12 months in French oak and has 13% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and 5.5 g/L total acidity with a screwcap closure. Seems quite ready-to-drink. Treads that fine line between clean and leesy but yes, this goes properly and adroitly for the wine. Drink date: 2025-2029. Tasted blind at NWACs, June 2025.
