ESTATE SYRAH 2020 VQA Lincoln Lakeshore, Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer REDSTONE
A great review by John Szabo that was just sent to me:Showing really nicely now, Redstone's syrah from the great 2020 vintage is delivering plenty of dark fruit and freshly cracked black pepper, also a lick of more red fruit underlying, showing good depth and breadth. The palate is sleek and powerful at once, with dusty-firm tannins coated in fruit extract and slender acids framing the balance. There's plenty to admire in this wine, approaching it's peak drinking window. Aged for 16 months in French oak, it has 14% alcohol, under 1 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 6.5 g/L total acidity. TASTING NOTE: Syrah can achieve impressive results in Niagara, as this wine illustrates. Spicy and fruit-forward, it has a good structural underpinning and will pair nicely with pepper steaks, charcuterie, or prosciutto pizza. Price $ 40.95
