KIDNAPPERS VINEYARD CHARDONNAY 2024 Hawke's Bay, North Island
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CRAGGY RANGE
This remarkable 2024 edition of Craggy Range Kidnappers Vineyard may be the the best I have tasted. Bright pale straw colour with a fairly intense, lovely, ripe, lemon-apple meringue nose that is perfectly balanced by elegant, gentle cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, nicely textured, ripe, lemon-apple-pear flavours with a lingering, bright, minerally, gentle caramel-vanilla-tinged finish. Perfectly balanced, it spent 8 months in French and Austrian oak puncheons (15% new) and has 13% alcohol, under 1 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 7.2 g/L total acidity. Screwcap closure with lot number 11.12.24 on the lower part of the glass bottle.

TASTING NOTE: Restrained and discreet aromas of lemon peel, oyster shells, talcum powder and orange blossoms. The palate is light- to medium-bodied with high-tension acidity and an underlying power. Very mineral and polished. Delicious. Drink or hold [till end of decade+]. Score - 93 (jamessuckling.com, Feb. 27, 2025) Price $ 31.95
