ZERO DOSAGE BRUT NATURE PINOT NOIR CHAMPAGNE AOC, France
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DRAPPIER
I have rated this Drappier highly in the past, but when tasted this release with two other wine critics on Friday October 24 we were unimpressed. It had a rather deep mature yellow colour. Intense, very slightly spicy, somewhat dusty, dried, plum-lemon-apple nose with minerally hints of yellow grapefruit. Extremely dry, medium-plus bodied, fairly dense, slightly peppery, mature, dried lemon-plum flavours with a lingering, somewhat terse, slightly bitter finish. It has 12.5% alcohol and under 1 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 179275

TASTING NOTE: Pinot Noir grown in the limestone plateau of the Côte des Bar is the source for this dry Champagne. While it certainly is dry, it is also a rich wine with a pink grapefruit aroma and taut, mineral texture. The wine will soften as it matures, so drink this bottling from 2025.
