DIVAL COTEL BLANC DE BLANCS 1ER CRU CHAMPAGNE AOC, France

New in VINTAGES. What a nice surprise, this complex, very tasty, 100% Blanc de Blanc is worthy of a detour. Bright medium straw colour with good effervescence. The intense, complex, toasty, still-fresh, ripe lemon-apple meringue nose has some beguiling lees notes. Dry, medium-plus bodied, harmonious, very nicely textured, ripe, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, fairly high-acid, gently toasty, minerally finish. All-in-all quite delicious, this blend of 60% from the 2017 harvest and 40% from reserves spent more than three years on the lees. It has just under 12.5% alcohol and 8 g/L residual sugar with lot number LG31A02.V2 on the back label.

TASTING NOTE: Capacious notes of baked apple, meringue and hazelnut praline set the luxurious tone here with a ravishing satin mousse and gossamer acidity which lap gently across the palate and harmonise towards the rippling saline finish. Score - 97 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2024)
