CHAMPS ROYAUX CHABLIS 2023 AOC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer WILLIAM FÈVRE
This classic 100% Chardonnay has a bright medium straw in colour. The still-youthful nose is attractive with good intensity showing gently toasty, complex, ripe, lemon-apple meringue fruit along with some nutty mineral notes. Dry, medium -plusbodied, harmonious, faintly spicy, bright, ripe, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, faintly toasty, mineral-tinged finish with fine mouthfeel. Aged in stainless steel with lees aging with 5% spending 6 months in 6-year-old French oak with lot number L20250121 on the lower part of the glass bottle and L25276143 on the capsule. and This is the 19th Vintages release since 2015 and this second release of 2023 is even better than the one the appeared on April 12, 2025. TASTING NOTE: Whatever happened to inexpensive Chablis at this village level but the reality is you get what you pay for and $39 buys you one of the most proper and well-orchestrated Chablis on the market today. Bit of lemon drop oil [on] the nose, which is of course a nice way to delve deep into citrus and limestone chalky Chablis. Less of that mineral here because, well fruit and this is the dictionary entry for high-level AOC. Still a Fèvre is a Fèvre that will treat you right. Liking 2023, that much is clear. Drink 2025-2028. Tasted April 2025. Score - 90 (Michael Godel, winealign.com) Price $ 38.95
