GAMAY 2023 VQA Lincoln Lakeshore, Niagara Peninsula, sustainable, unfiltered
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer HIDDEN BENCH
Bright deep violet-red colour. Complex and initially very earthy with some sour-savoury notes followed up by intense, ripe, plum-raspberry-crancherry fruit aromatics and lots of minerally gently cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, quite dense, rich and mouthfilling with vibrant, ripe, plum-crancherry-raspberry flavours and a lingering, very bright, gently spicy, minerally, earthy finish. Unfined and unfiltered, it has 13.2% alcohol and under 1 g/L residual sugar. Recently bottled April 10, 2025 (L2024-04-10 on the lower part of the glass bottle). I discovered that this wine tasted far superior after being decanted (and/or shaken) permitting it to breath and shed these recent bottling notes. It jumped from an initial 89 to 91+ points with the juicy, ripe, intense, black raspberry fruit coming into the foreground. I suggest extreme aeration if drinking today and/or laying it away for another year or so. CSPC 20422
