| ESTATE PINOT GRIS 2022 VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment |
| Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CAVE SPRING |
| This Beamsville Bench estate-grown Pinot Gris has a salmon-tinged yellow colour. Bright, slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, floral nose with some ripe lemon-pear-apple notes on the nose. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, mouthfilling, faintly honeyed, slightly spicy, ripe, apple-melon-lemon fruit flavours with a lingering, very bright finish. Seems quite ready-to-drink and should work with Sunday brunch smoked salmon omelet, quiche and/or chicken. It has 12.5% alcohol (vs the hefty 14.5% for the great 2019) and only 2 g/L residual sugar (not 8 g/L as listed by the LCBO) with a hefty 7.9 g/L total acidity. Seems quite ready-to-drink. |

| TASTING NOTE: This wine is sourced from the limestone-clay soils of the Cave Spring Vineyard, fermented using indigenous yeast and aged for several months on the fine lees prior to bottling. It's ripe and dry, with bright, fresh acidity and a rich mouthfeel. Look for pear, citrus and tropical fruit tones with a touch of spice and mineral and pair with roast pork, smoked-salmon pasta, or vegetarian curry. |
