| SINGLE VINEYARD RAMNISTA XINOMAVRO 2020 PDO Naoussa |
| Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
KIR-YIANNI |
| Fairly deep garnet-purple colour with a maturing edge. Slightly spicy, maturing, black cherry and Damson plum fruit on the nose with some very faintly earthy, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-plus bodied, harmonious, slightly spicy, gently complex, gently cedary, fairly Iintense, ripe, plum-crancherry flavours with a lingering, nicely textured finish. It fermented and aged for 16 months in a mix of French oak and has 14.5% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and 5.3 g/L total acidity with lot number L22322 on the back label. Reader alert: for the record this premium single vineyard edition has the same LCBO cspc number as the non-vineyard designated 2007 that was released in October 2010 for under $20. Some of my wine-savy associates say it is reminiscent of a fine Barolo, other say Burgundy. |

| TASTING NOTE: This wine is crafted from 100% Xinomavro harvested by hand from a single vineyard in the hills of Naoussa in northern Greece. It spent 16-18 months maturing in oak barrels. Poised and vibrant, it evokes sour cherry, wild herbs, cocoa and vanilla, all wrapped in ripe, velvety yet structured tannins. It will impress through 2030 and beyond. |
