BOUNDARY SPRING RED 2022 BC VQA Similkameen Valley
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SOREN
Soren is created by Master of Wine Geoff Moss - his personal selection of the best 17 barrels (out of 50) that he used in this premium 95% Bordeaux-inspired blend (along with 5% Syrah). Deep fairly intense purple-red colour. The nose shows lots of elegant, bright, ripe fruit - Damson plum, black cherry and cassis with some minerally notes along with complex, vanilla-oak notes in the background. Dry, medium-full bodied, quite structured, mouthfilling, ripe, rasperry-plum-cassis-cherry flavours followed up by a lingering, faintly savoury, lifted finish. The core of this blend is 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 18% Merlota and 12% Malbec. Aged in 12 neutral French oak barriques with only 5 new barrels selected to complement the fruit. It has 14% alcohol, only .4 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 6.8 g/L total acidity. Screwcap closure. CSPC 46480

TASTING NOTE: Soren is a virtual label by Okanagan-based Master of Wine Geoff Moss. It is made at Winemakers Cut at the District Wine Village in Oliver, with this Boundary Spring red being a blend from the Similkameen Valley. The main appeal here is intense fruit and flavours set in an elegant, juicy frame. Very lifted, quite mature aromas include raspberry-pomegranate, sage, graphite and fine oak. Very well integrated and pronounced, with a sleek yet juicy palate. The length is excellent. Impressive. Tasted April 2025. Score - 92 (David Lawrason, winealign.com) Price $ 38.95
