JULIÉNAS 2023 AP
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer VIGNERONS DE BEL-AIR
As a long-time fan of Julienas, I could not resist tasting this well-priced release from the Vignerons de Bel-Air which is a 90-year old cooperative of 350 growers farming 1,200 acres of old vines in Beaujolais. What a wonderful surprise! This delicious 100% Gamay has a bright deep red colour and a lovely, intense, fairly complex, ripe, cassis-strawberry nose with some bright minerally notes. Dry, medium-plus bodied, quite intense, ripe, plum-raspberry-cassis flavours with a lingering, nicely textured, harmonious, bright finish. Ready-to-drink, this versatile, crowd-pleaser has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. Not-to-be -missed. CSPC 44209
