| I passed on tasting Sasha Lichine’s Vintages magnum and jeroboam releases and tasted instead this much-better-value, sensibly-sized, 750 ml Vintages Essential. It has an extremely pale light salmon colour and an attractive, slightly spicy, bright, gently citrusy, plum-tinged nose with lots of minerally notes. Dry, medium-plus bodied, very slightly spicy, harmonious, quite mouthfilling, attractive, bright, ripe, plum-raspberry flavours with a lingering, well balanced finish. This tvery asty blend of lees-stirred Grenache, Cinsault and Rolle (Vermentino) has 13% alcohol and 1.2 g/L residual sugar. A Reccommended Best Buy at $30.95 (#325076). |
