BEDOBA SAPERAVI 2021 Georgia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer KAKHETI
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, slightly spicy, floral, ripe, plummy, black cherry fruit on the nose with some gently toasty, minerally, very faintly herbal notes. Dry medium-full bodied, well structured, rich, ripe, Damson plum flavours with a lingering, mouthfilling, violet-tinged, very faintly cedary, quite savoury, bright, cassis-tinged finish. This classy 100% Saperavi from Kakheti Georgia was aged for 24 months as follows: 50% in stainless steel, 25% in 5000-litre wooden vats, 18% in second and third 225-litre American oak barrels and 7% Qvevri (large local clay amphoras). It has 13.5% alcohol and about 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L11442082409 on the back label which appears beside the vintage 2021. Attractively labeled, it comes in a very heavy bottle. TASTING NOTE: Deep garnet-red colour. On the nose, a hint of wood comes through, with spices and fruit undertones. More charm in the mouth, where the fruit is more forthcoming in a virile, lively whole that still needs time to reveal its depth. For cellaring. Score - 90 (gilbertgaillard.com, 2023) Price $ 26.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
