CHÂTEAU BELLE ASSISE COUREAU 2022 AC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer
This tasty 2022 Saint-Emilion has a youthful fairly deep purple colour and an intense, attractive, slightly spicy, rather floral, ripe, plum-cassis-crancherry nose with some gently toasty, faintly savoury notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, quite well structured, ripe, Damson plum and cassis flavours with a lingering, fairly complex, sandalwood-cedar, forest floor finish. This 2022 is surprisingly approachable now but will evolve over the next 3 to 7 years - perfect for lamb and beef. This blend of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec has 14% alcohol and was aged for 16 months in oak. CSPC 14690

TASTING NOTE: Smells lovely, floral and fresh, lively and expressive, cool blue fruits, violets and stony touches. Smooth and silky, supple and succulent - so much juiciness and life to this before the salty, quite imposing tannins come in giving such a great grip to the palate, fully mouth coating. Blackcurrant, dark chocolate, liquorice and cola flavours - balanced and appealing, nothing harsh or dry, more ripe and round. Well defined, cool and fresh with lovely Cabernet aspects. This is delicious and moreish - a total crowd pleaser, with depth, density and detail. 3.65pH. A yield of 45hl/ha. Harvest; Merlot 28 September, Malbec and Cabernet Franc 6 October. Ageing 16 months in oak, 40% new, 50% one wine barrels, 10% cement. Paul Junet winemaker/consultant. Drinking window: 2026-2040.
