RÉSERVE PINOT GRIS 2018 AC Alsace
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TRIMBACH
Trimbach is a reliable family owned producer going back to 1626. This flavourful Reserve Pinot Gris is consistently well made and is perfection with foie gras. This 2018 has a medium-plus straw colour and an attractive, slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, ripe, melon-apple-pear purée nose with some mineral notes. It seems slightly off-dry with all the fruit but in fact only has 6 g/L residual sugar. It is well structured and medium-plus bodied, the gently complex, somewhat spicy, honeyed, very ripe, melon-apple-pear-lemon flavours that are followed up with a lingering, crisp, unoaked. surprising well textured finish. Ready-to-drink, it has 13.5% alcohol and only 5.6 g/L total acidity with lot number L56802I5 on the upper part of the glass bottle. CSPC 971762

TASTING NOTE: Only a hint of freshly cut, ripe pear peel appears briefly on the nose of this wine. The palate presents a precise picture of concentrated ripe, green pear that comes with purity, precision and restraint. All the fruit is there, but rather than rounding out, it soars with freshness, which is a real achievement in 2018. The finish is dry and vivid.
