SHOWCASE PINOT NOIR 2022 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TRIUS
This 2022 vintage is on the slightly shy, more elegant side of the equation with a lighter medium red colour. The Pinot Noir on the nose shines through with ripe plum-crancherry-raspberry fruit along with some faintly earthy, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-light bodied, well balanced, varietally-correct, very slightly spicy, bright, plum, raspberry-pomegranate fruit flavours with a balancing touch of tea, sandalwood and cedar on the finish. It as 12.1% alcohol, 1.7 g/L residual sugar and 5.7 g/L total acidiy and seems quite ready-to-drink. It would work well with poultry. CSPC 418111

TASTING NOTE: Although the label says VQA Niagara Peninsula, this pinot is from the Clark Farm in the Four Mile Creek sub-appellation, a blend of the seven best barrels from the vineyard, aged 10 months. It's a delicate and refined example, with ultra-fine tannins leaving ripe-zesty acids to carry the weight. Fruit is properly in the red fruit spectrum, joined by savoury notes, earth, leather, spice, clean overall. Length and depth are very good. Delicate and elegant overall, ready to drink or hold until the end of the decade. Tasted February 2025. Score - 90 (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com) Price $ 45.00
