| A total of 314 cases of this NWAC gold medal award-winning 10-month sur-lie-aged/barrel-fermented (20% new) 2022 Watching Tree Vineyard Chardonnay. It has a bright light yellow colour and an intense, ripe, very toasty, lemon-apple meringue nose with some minerally, tropical notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, fairly spicy, toasty, rich, mouthfilling, ripe, lemon-melon-apple meringue flavours followed up by a very long lingering, oak-driven, high acid finish. Quite ready-to-drink and should work well with poultry, risotto and even lobster bisque. Now at it’s peak, it has 12.7% alcohol, 2.3 g/L residual sugar and a very hefty 7.1 g/L total acidity with lot number 23314 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Tough to judge - this is the kind of Chard that some will love while others will not. |

| TASTING NOTE: The stony, pebbly Watching Tree Vineyard was planted in 1989 in an ancient riverbed. It was named for the tall tree that stands beside the vineyard, watching over the vines. This Chardonnay shows tropical fruit, ripe apple, citrus, peach, clove, vanilla, oak spice and toast. [National Wine Awards of Canada did not include a tasting note.] Score - 92 (National Wine Awards of Canada, 2024) |
